For those of you who’ve read about me, you’re probably wondering what I’m really about. I can’t tell you much – not yet. But I’m looking for followers – people I can rely on, when the time comes.

There’s something going on. Deuce is up to something. I’m going to need help – people that I can trust. I’ve heard from The Forest of Knowledge that something terrible is going to happen.

Hi. The name’s Tad – Tad Bailey. I was just a regular teenager before I found The Gate. Life was hard even then, what with all the bullying and Mum and Dad fighting all the time. I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Then Shiladu happened. Shiladu’s a place you go to in your sleep – well as far as The Gate, that is. You probably don’t remember. They see to that. Anyway, unless you’ve got a ticket, they won’t let you in.

I found one – a ticket, I mean. It looks like a stone – shiny on one side, gritty on the other. The next thing I knew, I was asleep. At least, I thought I was asleep. There was this huge gate and a strange looking character with a big black book. My name was in it. He said, I could get the life I wanted. Talked about The Seven Keys. I thought I was dreaming. I wish I had been.

Someone’s coming. I’ve got to go.

I am Deuce, the mad, bad magician from Shiladu – some would say. Actually, I’m an incredibly nice person really – kind, considerate, handsome, not at all vain. Now, where’s that wretched mirror of mine? Have you taken it?

You’re staring at me, aren’t you?

Well, of course you are. You like my hair. Everyone does. I see them looking at me. I watch them out of the corner of my eye – just like I’m watching you. Have you done your homework? I can see things, you know. I can see, right now, that you don’t believe me.

But I would be very careful, if I were you. Very, very careful. You need to know that my emerald ring is more powerful than any I’ve seen – and I’ve seen many from Future Times. If you’ve read about me, you’ll also know I don’t suffer fools gladly. So beware!

Of course, those that envy me would call me clumsy. But none of them will be saying anything like that again, poor insignificant creatures. I suppose I do get a little excited at times and the ring, well it can blow things up. There again, we all get a little carried away sometimes – just like you probably. Anyway, it’s not easy being a magician in Shiladu and sacrifices have to be made. Besides, I just love seeing people squirm when I point my finger at them.

Anyway, on an entirely different matter, I want to tell you something…

I have a plan. I am going to do something very nasty. It may be that I need your help. So pay attention. I’ll be back to tell you more very soon. Don’t tell anyone!

Hush hush!

This was one of the last submissions in our art competition - another talented artist from 186 that entered.

The judge found it very diffcult to reach a decision, as the entries were of a very high standard. However, the winners have now been decided and are shown on the ‘Home’ page. Congratulations to all!

As there were many wonderful entries, we have decided to award some extra prizes. The artists of all the following six pictures have each won a free place to attend (with a friend) a Demons and Thieves party. Their names are:  Sara, Izzy, Lily, Robbie, Taylor and Vanisha.

The ‘Demons and Thieves Main Site ‘ can be accessed  under ‘Important Links’ (to your right and towards the top of the page). This has the shop on it, an extract from the book, a little about the author and the pictures collected from the first art competition. Here you can buy a signed copy of the pre-publication edition (limited).

Also under ‘Important Links’ you will find a free membership application for the club. Click the text marked ‘SIGN UP FOR THE CLUB’ and it will take you to the registration form. To comply with the law, if you are 12 or under, we need your parent or guardian’s permission to collect your email address and register you for the club.

Beneath ‘Important Links’ you will see ‘Latest Posts.’ In the near future, you will be able to leave a comment under these posts (after clicking and reading them).
